Fire Station Safety
Fire station safety
This year, year 6 was lucky enough to visit Dogsthorpe fire station we had various challenges about safety and dangers from our point of view. We were split into equal teams and were sent around to do games experiences and quizzes so that throughout the whole day they weren’t bored. Some activities were more active than others like fire in the house practise and healthy body games.

One of the first things we did was look at a poster, then the lady said to us to tell her what was wrong with it and to identify which children were putting themselves in danger. Then we were talking about what could happen when you don’t wear your helmet so we experimented with eggs. We had one egg with a helmet on and one with out and we dropped them from a height and the one with the helmet on was ok but the one without a helmet on broke.
Next we talked about the dangers of arson and going to jail. It was a good way to see what crimes people do these days and how to stay safe from them. Next we went to learn about the fire engines and how tall the ladders work, it was very fascinating.
At the end of the day we got cool back packs, which was a nice way to end the trip.
