Ed Murphy visits Highlees
As part of European Local Democracy Week 2014, children across the school took part in a drawing competition to show their ideas about democracy, linked to sharing, choosing and deciding. On Wednesday 15th September, Councillor Murphy visited Highlees. Year 2 shared ideas from their project about how to improve the local area and Councillor Murphy talked to Key Stage Two about his job as a councillor before spending time with our Year 6 pupils. At the end of the day, he looked at the competition entries and chose the school's candidate to go through to the final stage. The lucky pupil will be invited to tea with the Mayor in November when the overall winner will be announced.
